ABOUT THE CFPBA
PBA HISTORY
In 1972, a small group of law enforcement officers formed the Florida PBA and established its goals:
- to provide Florida's law enforcement and corrections officers with a strong and effective political voice before legislative and local government bodies, and
- to protect Florida's law enforcement and corrections officers from any and all sources that attack their salaries, pensions or working conditions.
We are proud to tell you that the handful has grown to a membership of over 30,000 with a full-time, professional staff of 40 highly qualified persons. With equal pride, we can also report that services we provide exceed the original 1972 goals. Times have changed since 1972, but Florida PBA has not forgotten its goals and we will continue to furnish the best, most effective representation possible.
ABOUT US
The Coastal Florida Police Benevolent Association is a charter of Florida PBA; we are a professional law enforcement association in Daytona Beach, Florida which is centrally located within our coverage area of 12 counties (Brevard, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Indian River, Nassau, Putnam, St. Johns, St. Lucie, Seminole & Volusia). We are representing our law enforcement community including sheriffs, police, corrections, probation and public employees with:
- legal issues
- legislative issues
- collective bargaining issues
- labor issues
As a new member of the Coastal Florida PBA, we want you to know that one of the primary benefits of membership is legal assistance. Coastal Florida PBA and Florida PBA utilize our attorneys to provide you with the best legal services available to Florida's law enforcement officers. These services are provided as part of your membership, and there is no additional cost to you. Benefits do not cover occurrences prior to the effective date of PBA membership.
Upon Request you will be provided with a no additional cost on the scene attorney in the event you are involved in a shooting or cause great bodily harm to any person, in any manner, including accidents while performing official duties.
The Coastal Florida PBA is highly involved in legislation. We lobby intensely in Tallahassee and on our homefront for enhanced law enforcement rights and benefits. We have great relationships with most of our political and community leaders to maintain awareness, clarification and resolution to issues affecting our members.
The PBA provides contract negotiations, administration and labor relations assistance if you have the right of such representation as a member of a PBA Collective Bargaining Unit covered by a bargaining contract.
